180 guests joined us for an opening ceremony full of flames and smoke.
On November 11, we finally opened ViteMeir - we've been waiting for this. The opening was attended by politicians, partners, donors, businesses, school staff and employees. And with Rasmus Mo as host, Andreas Wahl with a science show and Gunn Marit Kvåle with a concert, it was a grand opening of the new science center.
From the stage, Wahl set up various science experiments, to the great enthusiasm of the packed hall. Not least, County Mayor Jon Askeland had the honour of "cutting the ribbon" in a slightly new way. We simply set his hands on fire, and with that the centre was officially opened.
- A lawmaker of the very large
The man who opened ViteMeir by "burning the string", county mayor Jon Askeland, was clearly pleased with the opening:
- The parishioners can point to what opened today and say "see what I can do". It has looked difficult many times along the way, but when the parishioners want something, they are not easy to stop. This is one of the great team victories, but I must be allowed to highlight Tor Arne Ness in particular. He has been the linchpin in this and got everyone on board. We all saw how strong this was for him today, Askeland said to Sogn Avis.
Clearly proud
Initiator Tor Arne Ness was also clearly proud on the opening day, and said to Sogn Avis:
- We are more cohesive than most science centres. A good learning place for schools, a good meeting place for businesses, and we are also open to all leisure visitors both day and evening. It should be a bit like a community centre, and we need more legs to stand on.
Thank you to everyone who took part!
