ViteMeir has reached 100,000 since opening!
Wednesday, October 16 marked a big day for ViteMeir. According to our calculations, we reached our 100,000th visitor that day. We couldn't let that pass us by without creating a little extra buzz around these guests, in our own science center way.
This is an anniversary for the science center, which opened its doors in November 2021.
Communication manager Åse Neraas is delighted.
- "It's important for us to take our regional role seriously as the knowledge center for all of Sogn og Fjordane. That's why it's extra nice that the guests on this day represent another part of the county. It shows that we not only reach out locally, but also to the entire region. It's an extra pleasure to see that we can inspire students from all over the county!
On the big day, we received a visit from the 9th grade at Eid secondary school. When the pupils entered the doors of ViteMeir , they were greeted with confetti cannons and loud cheers. Then they got to help light the 100,000 sign that our own Reodor Felgen, Andreas Uglum Vikdal, had designed and built. To light it, the students had to form a closed circle by holding hands with each other and us from ViteMeir. This is science in practice, but also a nice symbol that ViteMeir would not be what it is today without collaboration.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our partners, large and small, for their excellent cooperation. We would also like to thank the municipalities that send kindergarten children and pupils to visit us, and not least all the private individuals who visit us!
The students from Eid received this trip as a prize after winning Sogn og Fjordane Energi (SFE)'s "Energy Battle". Communications Manager at SFE, Jannicke Lindvik, is also delighted that ViteMeir has reached this milestone:
- Our powerful region needs ViteMeir! We've been involved from the start and are proud of our collaboration with ViteMeir, which helps to engage young people in an exciting way. Through projects such as "The Energy Fight", we have the opportunity to help bring important topics such as energy and sustainability into schools. The Science Center's work is important for inspiring children and young people, and it is crucial for the future that we start spreading this knowledge early.
ViteMeir Its social mission has always been to inspire enthusiasm for science and contribute to recruitment, something that both the region and Norway need - now and in the future. Chairman and initiator of ViteMeir, Tor Arne Ness, says the following about this event:
- This is fun! It's a great milestone for ViteMeir that we've reached 100,000 people in less than three years - and that's not counting all those who have only visited the café! This shows that the science center has become a success for both schools and leisure.
