Letter to the editor from Jan Einan, NITO

For many years, NITO Sogn og Fjordane has been concerned that our area should also have a science center.

A center where children and young people can experience the excitement of discovering technology, science and science communicated in a good and modern educational way.

This was also the reason why NITO Sogn og Fjordane in 2017 stepped in and supported the establishment of Vitemeir economic.

We reckoned that there was broad political agreement, also among central governing powers, that a science center should be established in Sogn og Fjordane. That is why NITO Sogn og Fjordane was very surprised when we saw the government's submission to the state budget for 2021. There was not a single krone in it Vitemeir .

We know that in order for the center to start up within the next year, they need around NOK 6 million from the state budget. A small sum in a big budget. NITO Sogn og Fjordane will strongly encourage the Storting to make changes to the budget, so that Vitemeir receives this money from the state.

We need a science center for the benefit of children, young people and businesses in our part of the country.
