Åse Neraas appointed as head of communication
Åse Neraas is now responsible for student recruitment at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, based in Kaupanger, and known to many as a football player for Kaupanger and Molde.
She starts her job on June 1. Before then, construction on the site in Kaupanger will also have started. The ViteMeir center is scheduled to open next autumn.
- I got my dream job at the university when I was a new graduate, but I've always wished I had two lives, because I really wanted to use my teacher training as well. In this position, I get to do that in addition," says Neraas.
Competitive person
Times will be busy, and the goals for the center's operations are set high.
- "I'm a competitive person, which will probably come in handy when we're aiming for 40,000 visitors a year," says Neraas.
She is looking forward to a varied job.
- In the first phase, I will work on financing, the design of installations and the educational offerings I will provide.
We will offer programs adapted to the subject renewal that will be introduced in the school system now," she says. In addition to school pupils, the target groups include kindergartens, families, tourists and businesses. When the center opens, Neraas will also work directly with visitors.
- Later on, I'll probably meet people and do outreach, in addition to leading the group of outreach workers who will be appointed," she says.
Energetic lady
General Manager Marianne Jevnaker at ViteMeir is very pleased. They were able to choose between 21 applicants. It was important to find a person with an educational background.
- "Åse is an energetic lady who we are very pleased to have on the team," she says. "She is a qualified teacher, but also has management experience from HVL. We are very pleased that she has also worked with networking and events, both in the workplace and in organizations.
