The county municipality adopted a framework agreement with ViteMeir

The County Council decided on June 4, 2019 that Sogn og Fjordane County Municipality will enter into a three-year framework agreement with ViteMeir from the 2020/2021 school year. The agreement includes access to the exhibitions and various learning programs at the center, visits from ViteMeir at the secondary schools, as well as the associated ambassador scheme for employees at the schools.

Prerequisite for becoming a regional science center

- This is probably an important piece to get in place before the fall of 2019 when we will apply to the Norwegian Science Board (manager of the Science Center Program under the auspices of the Research Council of Norway) for status as a regional science center, says Marianne Jevnaker, project manager for ViteMeir . A county municipality's support is one of the criteria that must be met in order to be able to release state subsidies for operation. The county municipality is now strongly involved in the realization of the center, both as the largest owner, the developer of the new building that is coming to Kaupanger and now as a user of the center for its upper secondary school students.

The details of the agreement regarding what the offer to the upper secondary schools will entail will be specified when the content development at the center has progressed a few steps.
