– Sparebanken Sogn og Fjordane has been an important contributor, and started the krone rollout two years ago with two million kroner. The fact that they are now giving an additional one million kroner means an extremely great deal to us, says incoming CEO Erlend Fardal Lunde in ViteMeir .
ViteMeir will take over the building that Vestland County Council is building on September 1, 2021 and aims to open in the fall of 2021. The money from Sparebanken Sogn og Fjordane's owner foundation, which provides gifts from the bank's surplus, will go towards installations in the center. A prerequisite for the payment of the gift is that the center is approved as a regional science center and that the Storting allocates money for it through the state budget.
– We will fill three floors and 1200 square meters with installations, content and experiences. The content of ViteMeir "It should be top-class and not be inferior to any other science center, both educationally and as a visitor and experience center," says Lunde.
The center will be the first of its kind in Sogn og Fjordane.
– ViteMeir will be a new and completely unique offering for schools, businesses, tourism and the leisure market here, he says.
ViteMeir received two million kroner from the bank's surplus in 2018 to establish a science center in Kaupanger.
– ViteMeir will be both an exciting tourist attraction and an important contribution to education for children and young people throughout Sogn og Fjordane. They have ambitions to bring in some unique attractions that will be among the most exciting in the country, and that also highlight the advantages we have here in Sogn og Fjordane. That is why they are now receiving a gift of an additional one million kroner for this. We are looking forward to seeing the result, says Jan Petter Vadheim, Head of Corporate Market at Sparebanken Sogn og Fjordane.
